What do you do if you've neglected your window so much that they are falling apart and you really do think they've had it? Whatever you do, don't replace them. It will cost you a fortune, and think of the environment! I met just the man who can help you out, however dire you think the situation is.

Nicholas Smith set up NJS Resin Restorations two years ago and what he can do to rotten windows is amazing. I went to see him at work on a house in Teigh. I would have said the window he was working in was rotten to the core and needed replacing. Not so, says Nick, it will take him only a couple of days at the most to get that back to what it should be.

It's all to do with some special sort of resin that sets as hard as wood.

Nick has 20 years' experience in the building trade and specialised with his father in renovating properties. He quickly came to realise it was possible (and so much cheaper) to repair rotten windows rather than rip them out and replace them.
